Taking A Look At Fates Collide's Eeveelutions...

As you may know the expansion for the XY series TCG , Fates Collide, releases here in the U.S. on May 2nd, 2016. We are less than two weeks away and most pre-releases have already happened this past weekend. Unfortunately, I didn't make it to any due to work but I've been following pulls and scans online.

From the looks of it, we're getting several exciting things in this set. Collection-wise, I'd have to say I'm glad to see that we are finally going to get the missing pieces in the Eeveelution EX's with the new Umbreon-EX and Glaceon-EX.

From the looks of these, Umbreon has a pretty cool attack in "Endgame" where you can end up drawing 4 cards if you knock out a Mega Evolved Pokemon . Two thirds of the prizes taken?!

Yes, Please!

However, with most competitive battlers running Nightmarch...there's little promise of this being dominant in the current meta. "Veil of Darkness" in my opinion, should do a little more than 20 damage with its effect but it's not useless by any means. With this attack you could potentially just be shuffling full hands every turn- that could be useful.

The overall low energy cost of this card is also pretty beneficial. I'd think this card would be a good supporter if there's ever a really dominant Mega Evolution deck- but probably would not be the best as a primary attacker.

With "Crystal Ray" , Glaceon would be a good defense against decks requiring evolved Pokemon as attackers. Again, probably not too useful as far as the local meta (Damnit, Nightmarch!). It could be a good revenge attacker with "Second Bite" requiring it to take some damage. You would have to add something like Fighting Fury Belt to amp its health up.

Overall, I don't see them getting much competitive play for these two. I think these cards are more for the collectors, but they are still beautiful cards none the less.
