In the local area we've seen a boost in locally produced events, get-togethers, and general Pokemon GO activity. Out of all the local cities though, we have seen the biggest numbers coming out of Granite City and Collinsville. With big thanks to organizers (Granite City- Brandt Khounsana, Carrie Khounsana, "OldManValor", Brandi Nizinski [618 PokemonGO]/ Collinsville- Michelle Burgess, Josh Burgess) for keeping it alive out there.
Granite City keeps a very active FaceBook Raid chat (invites can be requested through Facebook groups: 618 Pokemon GO and Granite City Pokemon GO) , created by Brandt Khounsana. Some raids have turn outs of over 30 people. The biggest turn outs to date have been on the first day of the release of Moltres. Players also utilize the Granite City raid and rare spawns sections of the Southwest Illinois Pokemon Discord channel created by Highland player TheManbow.

Granite City's player base is predominantly Valor with Mystic at a close second, and Instinct in third. Each team has players of various levels. There are at least two (more on some teams) level 40 players in the city on each team, respectively. Most active players are in between levels 30 and 40. Collinsville has a weekend raid group that utilizes the entirety of Main St. and keeps lures on all day and night. Organized by Michelle and Josh Burgess, they welcome any and all players to bring a chair and hang out in a section of Main Street while lures pop and Raids are active for the taking. Collinsville players use a Discord channel created by Michelle to communicate and meet up for raids.
They've been known to organize several all ages local events and contests with success. Keep a look out!
